I DONT BELIEVE IT

Racism, pure and simple.
It seems that even in death we are not equal.
I rather agree with a statement in the piece - 'With appropriate goodwill on all sides, we are hopeful that a satisfactory solution can be found in this sensitive area'.

In my background there is very little rush to be buried, often to others it seems a long time indeed.
of course we must pander to religious nutters!
Sorry about that but that's how we do it - no rush.
There would be no problem if Mary Hassell had not ignored the funeral customs of Islam and Judaism where both require(if possible) a burial within 24 hours.
I can see the point of not using a strict cab rank system. The reason quoted here is religious need but there can be other reasons. When I lost my husband, my sister had been staying with us for some time. She was a real tower of strength and it had been a very physically and mentally tiring time for her. She had a holiday booked for very shortly after his death which she had booked much earlier in the year. She had already said that she was determined that if we still needed her she would cancel the holiday and after he died she said again that she would stay with me until after the funeral. I spoke to the funeral directors and explained the problem and they managed to expedite the cremation certificate and the arrangements so that the funeral happened very quickly and my sister could take her much needed holiday.
when I heard of it - I thought it was obviously lawful
we are all equal before the law
and so we have to wait and wait and wait along with the rest of us.....

but their lordships say it is not
the christians can wait longer

and we arent talking hours we are talking months

The coroners cases have ballooned since Shipman
A neighbour - it was 5m 30 d - I did [oint out the Act said about six months - and then we were treated as tho it was a privilege for the coroner to take so long....
dannyk: "There would be no problem if Mary Hassell had not ignored the funeral customs of Islam and Judaism where both require(if possible) a burial within 24 hours. " she is 100% right to ignore their digusting religious BS - they ain't our customs, if they yearn for their own customs so much they should stay in their own country end of. Join the queue like the rest of us.
I am sick and tired of being told that--'We are all equal with regard to race, colour and creed. This latest episode shows that some are more equal than others with regard to religion. High Court judge --?Singh, has ordered the Coroner ,a Ms. Hassell ,to allow Muslims and Jews because of their religious beliefs (having to be buried within so many hours or days ?? ) to take precedence instead of being in rota as previously . This news has been welcomed by the Jewish leaders and the Mayor of London--Sadiq Khan. It's disgraceful that even in death we have to treated like this. Never thought about it before but it makes me wonder if this is already happenng in our local communities.
TTT, that is not even worth a reply,You are really showing how much of a racist you are.
how? buy backing the concept of the queue? Really Danny you are going to have to explain that one.
-- answer removed --
how can it be racist anyway? Might be religionist, for that I make no apology.
Andres, if people were having funeral dates altered to accommodate a maember of another faith I would agree with you,Can you quote any instance where this might have happened.
right so on planet danny anyone can get their own way due to their particular adherence to their brand of fairy tale! right oh!

"Andres, if people were having funeral dates altered to accommodate a maember of another faith I would agree with you,Can you quote any instance where this might have happened." - that's what the judge has ordered, it may not have happened up to now but it will because of this decision, do keep up.
