Last one to solve and finding it very difficult.
The answer is the name or location of a castle in the UK

I have Mortlach (mar for spoil, and cloth for shoe cleaner)
However, I dont think this is correct as I cant fit it with the second half of the clue, "and throw it away".

Any help gratefully received.

its not an anagram i take it...
Probably partly. "Spoil" suggests that is a possibility.
Maybe 'throw it away' is the anagram indicator.
could it be Market something..

Hi Emmie,
could be anything, no hint given other than to say most answers are cryptic. I have trawled lists of castles, nothing seems to fit the brief, so I have been looking at alternative words as anagrams in desperation. Dont want to colour your views or judgement by my ideas, however.
Remove the I and the T.
Too many UK castles to check any list :-(
don't worry im a novice at this, but am fascinated if / when someone gets it..
Frenchie, have a look up at 15.39. Mar(spoil) and cloth(shoe cleaner) form the anagram.
Question Author
yes thats how I got to Mortlach, an anagram of mar (for spoil) and cloth (for shoe cleaner).
Do you think that is correct?
I honestly don't know.It is just a suggestion
Looking on Google Earth there is a castle at Mortlach but they label it Balvenie Castle.
Could be Burmarsh-Mar/brush
Balvenie Castle used to be called Mortlach. It fits the clue in every way so I would go for it.
The quiz states name or LOCATION of a castle.
Question Author
Cashier, my thoughts exactly.
There is no castle at Burmarsh, which was the other anagram I thought might fit (mar and brush).

thank you all for your help and confirmation that Mortlach is my best bet (Balvenie now, but originally Mortlach). Perhaps that is what the clue meant by "throw it away"?
