Sorry it's from Listener 4472. The full clue was: 'Perhaps bongo player replacing his partner with note, not classically inclined' (6). One word has to be removed pre-solve and I think it's 'not'.
Can't parse it but maybe something to do with a bongo being an antelope?

Ah thanks, in that case I wonder if it's antelope with the (bridge) player s replacing e and not (n't).
Except East and South are opponents not partners.
Perhaps S(outh) replacing N(orth) and Te(note)?
