Hot Water Not Heating From Bolier

Hi Chaps

I've got an unvented (Tribune HE) domestic hot water system & my boiler is not firing up to heat the tank when the programmer comes on.

I've done some basic fault finding and suspect that it's the dual tank stat that is at fault - there is power going into the stat but nothing coming out (however I twiddle the temp setting) even though the water is only lukewarm in the tank. I suspect that the 'high temperature limiter' part of the stat may have tripped for some reason.

The stat is a Range TS207 - like this :

The manual talks about a 'manual reset' button (presumably under the little black cap) - when I remove the cap there is a small rod protruding - but this won't 'click back' into a flush position when pressed.

Am I correct that this is indeed the 'manual reset' procedure - if not than what do I do?

Cheers

Dave

PS - I've got a 'home emergency' contract which will (I hope) fix the problem if necessary - but I don't want to look a prat if they just come and push a button ...

Bolier ... ho ho ho ... not spotted by the spilling chocker :(
have you checked water pressure?

FIL has some sort of bolier (can't remember make and model) but his rest button is black and doesn't need to be removed, just pressed when the bolier goes in a huff.
rest button?

oh fgs, reset button :-)

It's on the tank stat, albs - not the boiler - that's working fine for heating.
hmmmm, sounds like something may need replacing inside the boiler.
We had similar with our Ideal boiler, heating was fine, but no hot water.
Some sort of exchanger was needed - if I remember rightly.
Give them a phone Dave. xx

It now looks like it's actually the motorised valve (not throwing far enough to fire up the pump and boiler) rather than the stat.

I should have a man coming to fix it soon

Hope it's sorted before you start to whiff, Dave....though you could have called me......I'd have popped over with my tool kit......xxx

I've seen your pink hammer (no that is not a euphemism) - I think it needs more insulation judging by the 'interesting' spark when my nice neighbour prodded the offending switch with his special thingy.
In case my daughter looks in......I am gender- neutral.....I have a blue screw driver!....x
