Evening all, anyone know what the bright star/planet is bottom right of the moon, the moon is in the ssw and the star or planet is at about 5 O'clock to the moon.

Venus I'm almost positive and very bright and beautiful.
yesterday it was around seven oclock to the new moon

And up above Venus and the Moon, to the left hand side, is Mars.
Welcome Peter - a sparkly clear night tonight, bit too cold to stay out long though.
Neptune will be along, a bit later on.

Jupiter will be in the south during the early morning hours.
Yes, there are some links on that site - a great time for looking skywards.
Venus was brighter than the Moon for a while up here. Just behind Mars and a little lower Neptune is in line with the other three.

Thank everyone.
I did mention on Wendilla's post a few nights ago that the Google Sky Map app is brilliant on an Android or Smart phone. But you do need to switch on the location finder to be able to positively identify every star or planet out there.
