Thank you novalis
Is up-end a known or acceptable term for the tip of something? Of course there's upend, but that's entirely different.
Up-end/upend defined in Chambers as to turn upside down
1a Done-gal
10,11a Sir Arthur Conan Doyle - anag 'horrendous carnality'
26a Up-end - 'u' (acceptable) + 'pend' (to be expected)
7d Athletic - from 'Athlone' (Irish city), replace 'one' with 'cite' (call, up)
13d Fairground - 'air' (expose) + 'GR' (both in) 'found' (cast)
up end in the sense of tipping it over?
My head told me to include "...(tip [over])..." but my fingers appear to have ignored the instruction
