I have one left in a Christmas quiz to identify 50 models of cars (things like Cambridge, Consul, Popular, Zodic, etc etc). Most a fairly straight questions but a few are more cryptic. This one reads:

"Lodge up the mountain."

Any thoughts folk?

Sunbeam ALPINE, I'd say.

Hm, Thanks Frogman. I wondered about that but it didn't seem to fit the clue very well (other than the reference to Alps) unless I'm missing something. The rest of the clues were good crossword standard....
If the clues are of a 'single mildly cryptic definition' type, then I think it will be Alpine - an Alpine Lodge is to be found up a/the mountain, and in the slightly deceptive surface reading 'lodge' appears to be a verb.
Jo, you are clearly too young to remember the Alpine:

My granny told me about it... 8)

Thanks both - I think I agree, Alpine it is! Much appreciated.
Much too young, Frogman, as are you.....;o)
