I really hope the answer to 2 isn't Bruce Robert!
Luckily, it's Peter Parker :-)
:)
1 Are you sure it's not (6,6,10)?
Charles Rennie Mackintosh?

Jeffa - thank you. Can you tell me why he's famous please?
Calibax - number of letters correct, CRM is what I would have thought.
Can I tell you why Robert the Bruce is famous????
Question Author
Yes, I get Brucie and the spider, I get Peter Parker as Spiderman but what is the Scottish connection to PP? Am I being mega thick? (Don't be too quick to answer that!)
Sorry, CRM would be (7,6,10) anyway but I can't think of any other Glaswegian exponents of Art Nouveau known by three names.
Question Author
Been looking through lists of modern artists but so far none that fit, was just a thought. Do you see the link of Peter Parker to Scotland, Calibax - surely the spider bit is rather tenuous.
Not sure if I'm on the right track but James Duncan and James Rennie both wrote books about insects.

Thanks Scorpiojo, I've worked on your suggestion and looked up entomologists & arachnologists to no avail. Another clue I think I've got wrong is "what a racket" (4,6).
^Andy Murray
Still stumped. Have tried climbers, sculptors, painters, The Four, Glasgow boys and girls and nothing. Is this the same quiz with the time machine question? Just wonder if there are any typos in quiz.
Question Author
Calibax - Thanks, I was thinking racket was noise and racquet was bat, but it seems both spellings can be used for sports bats.
Question Author
Scorpiojo - Many thanks for your efforts. This quiz is in aid of St Machar's Cathedral raising money for water filters in Malawi. The deadline was yesterday but may send for the answers out of interest. All help was appreciated.
You're welcome. Would like to see what the answers are tho.
