/// He and his parents saw our country as a land of safety and opportunity. It afforded him neither. Thavisha died in broken Britain; a potent symbol of its disintegration into shocking and gratuitous lawlessness. ///

/// In the words of one of his cousins, Britain was a ‘glossy apple – but with a rotten core’. ///

If you agree with this family's sentiments, what has brought Britain down to this level?

Certain media outlets and bigoted people building hate against immigrants.
I only wish I knew so it could be fixed.

>>>people building hate against immigrants.

One of the people arrested was named as Shamraze Khan.

I think this was a leading question by AOG as he was expecting it to be pointed out one of the people arrested had an obvious Asian name.

Still one has to say SOME of the "rotten core" can be put down to SOME immigrants.
VHG, this Shamraze Khan may be British, you can't tell by a name.
As much as some may think on here I am not a racist, the problem in the UK is not the people, it is what the government let these people do, allow the UK & Rules to be broken by persons coming into this country and think they can do what they like! Eg/ Turban person in Birmingham UK refused to wear a Crash helmet because it was against his religion, the talk about Shara Law, Like Aus the Government want to get their priorities right & state, this is Britain abide by the Law of this land or GET OUT, SIMPLE.
TWR, what is a "Turban person"?
a person wearing a turban.....
no i don't believe it has, live in Brazil, South Africa, or indeed in America and the chances are you may well come to a sticky end, serious crimes like murder in those places far outweigh what happens here.
what happened to that poor chap is still a relative rarity, grim as that seems, i only wish that his family get justice for their murdered son.
I suppose if one reads such salacious articles often enough one becomes brainwashed into thinking Britain is broken.
Because the phrase 'turban person' is not insulting derogatory at all is it!!
it's hardly salacious, murder, rape, child abuse, it all goes on, you don't have to read the papers, just watch the news, go on line,
talk to family, friends who have been victims of crime.
If I knew the person's name Fried, I'd use it, are you picking at straws?
Turbans are generally worn by Seikh's so why not use Seikh's instead!!
Send me your address, I'll send you the straws.
not just Sikhs

A turban, is a kind of headwear based on cloth winding. Featuring many variations, it is worn as customary headwear, usually by men. Communities with prominent turban-wearing traditions can be found in South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Near East, the Arabian Peninsula, North Africa, the Horn of Africa, and parts of the Swahili Coast. Turbans worn in South Asia are known as Pagri.

Wearing turbans is common among Sikhs, who refer to it as a Dastar. In certain other faith communities, the headgear also serves as a religious observance, including among Muslims, who regard turban-wearing as Sunnah Mu'akkadah
Emmie xx Thank you
ahhh Em I did I know that you would google that!!

My point was that had TWR taken a bit of time his wording would have been better without the insult of 'turban person'!!
You will also note Emmie that I said 'generally' not 'just'.
