I am looking to visit scotland in septemeber sometime and as a keen photographer I am looking to see as much wildlife as possible, such as otters, birds etc etc but I hear there are also chances of seeing dolphins and whales even if these are slim. Can anyone recommend an area of scotland to stay. It seems such a big place where you dont know where to start! Many thanks.

Inverness is a good central point with good access to mountains, lochs and sea.

Years ago we went to Skye and there were seals which were fab.

How were you planning on travelling around? if by car then you can cover a fair bit of the country and see loads of different things - Scotland is full of animals and some stunning scenery, just depends what you like really.
parkhead youre sure of a variety there on matchdays
Ibrox is shut or you could really have seen wildlife.
Skye is beautiful - you can get a wee boat from elgol out to loch coruisk and spot wildlife on the way - then travel up the west coast and across to the moray firth for the dolphins, down through aviemore and the cairngorms for some bird watching then see the wolfs at the wildlife park (and the polar bear but he is not really native :))

oh yeah seals would be great aswell! We would have a car but would probably rather stay in one place and just travel for the day to the best areas nearby. Im supposing this would have to be somewhere not too far from sea if we fancy the whale and dolphin spotting.
haha thanks annie, I love places like that!
Then you might also like Fort Augustus as you can get out to the west coast and up to Inverness/Moray Firth
Can I suggest the county of Angus. You are within a hour's drive of the sea, the glens, and rural areas. I live in a wee village on the coast and see dolphins travelling by most days. There is a very good Wildlife centre in Montrose with helpful staff who will tell you what you can see in the area.http://www.angus.gov.uk/sustainability/N
