A Merry Christmas to all our players. I hope you have had a great day.

The game ended at 7pm and now, rather later than usual, the results are ready for posting.

The links chosen by 'King John' aka jobjockey, were as follows:

MERRY WIDOW
CHRISTMAS ISLAND
HAPPY EVENT
FAMILY TREE

The pairings suggested by players were interesting. Apparently only one still believes in Father Christmas and 'Happy Hour' was so popular that we could have had a whole evening of cheap entertainment

An average game pointswise with all links found within the first ten minutes of play.

The very first player, Ulysses100, chose FAMILY TREE with tearinghair, lysander and beejay1124 all in time for 2 points.

Second player Roslyn251254 found MERRY WIDOW with Rockfordill in tow for their 2 points.

Just 10 minutes into the game, the remaining two links were found: HAPPY EVENT by Kettledrum and CHRISTMAS ISLAND by Middlestump.

The only double-hitter this festive weekend was SHAZZA Hewat and so I declare:
**** HOTSHOT FOR ****
**** CHRISTMAS IS ****
*** SHAZZA HEWAT ***

Points scored this festive weekend were:

2 beejay1124
2 ChrisHewat (SHAZZA)
2 kettledrum
2 lysander
2 middlestump
2 rockfordill
2 roslyn251254
2 tearinghair
2 ulysses100
1 albaqwerty (Mr)
1 albaqwerty (Mrs)
1 cliffyg
1 cupid04
1 Euphemia
1 grannydi
1 handbaglady
1 kawakiri
1 paulineward

Making the Leaderboard look like this after 4 weeks.

8 kettledrum
5 centrino
4 beejay1124
4 Euphemia
4 lysander
4 middlestump
4 rockfordill
4 slaney
4 ulysses100
4 x-ray
3 Brenden
3 handbaglady
3 paulineward
+ 13 on 2 points
+ 14 on 1 point

That three-point lead seems to put kettledrum in a strong position but she is not in an unassailable position. Several players could catch her with a couple of good matches early in the next game.

So with one more game to play this month, let's see who can get a handle on how Jobjockey's mind works and challenge Kettledrum for the top of the leaderboard over the New Year weekend.
Be alert for the launch around 8:45 next Saturday, by which time King John hopes to have beaten his computer into submission and overcome all the gremlins.
Good - another point!
I hope you too had an enjoyable day and that the Kingdom was not overly battered by the wind.
Thanks King John and Gen2, and well done to all scorers. Broken my duck for the month at last. Look forward to next week's offerings.
Ah, well - glad I didn't bother the scorers on Christmas Day... ... ....
Thanks to gen2 and jobjockey.
Oh dear, seem to be getting back to my usual position.......no score !!! Should have got Happy Event as my 6th grandchild is due tomorrow !!!! Thanks King John and Gen for running the links, especially over Christmas. Hope you all had a good one !!1
Gosh! I've never been in a position like this before. Thank you, King John: it appears that I am more on your wavelength than I ahve been on any other setter's. All to play for next week ....
Thanks gen2...just got around to looking this up!
Hope you had a good Christmas.
