This is Manx Queenie offering you a new challenge!

As my name implies, my father’s family came from the Isle of Man and my daughter and her family currently live there, although I left some years ago. Now, in the current financial climate, I cannot afford to return there permanently, but I do love the little island with all its quaint ways.

Everyone knows about the cats with no tails that symbolise the Isle of Man, and there are still quite a few around in the island, although they are no longer bred there. The true “rumpy” has no tail at all but this is actually a deformity and in order to produce healthy specimens it is necessary to introduce long-tailed varieties at intervals which, of course, produces tails of various lengths from “normal” to “stumpy” in order to get the true rumpy. Talking of long-tails, this is the Manx name for a rat. They are a superstitious lot over there and think that by not mentioning the dreaded rodents, they will not exist. Not true, I am afraid. The Pied Piper of Hamelin could be gainfully employed on the Island..

The Manx Coat of Arms is legs. Pardon? I mean, the Manx flag carries the well-known three-legged symbol which is sometimes mistaken for the Nazi one although that has four legs. Nobody knows which way the legs are supposed to run – clockwise or anti-clockwise – and even official documents can vary in which direction their triple limbs point. The motto of the Isle of Man is “quocunque jeceris stabit”, meaning “whichever way you throw me, I stand”, referring, of course, to the three legs. When the new harbour was built in Douglas, the inner wall was made of three-sided blocks that slotted together and which were known as “stabits”

The other, perhaps best known, production from the island is the TT races, held at the beginning of June each year over what is considered to be one of the most dangerous of all circuits – narrow, bendy roads that dip down into steep-banked hollows, climb up the side of a mountain and down again, negotiate towns, villages and, occasionally, the odd sheep that has escaped from its pasture beside the road. At this time there are more than 6,000 motorbikes in the island and the whole atmosphere buzzes with excitement and anticipation.

According to normal practice, for the everyday running of MM, I shall follow this rule on word length, in that each of my pre-selected link words contains at least four letters and at most eight letters. Stray outside this range and you will be wasting one of your attempts!

Each of the selected link words may go in front of, or behind my challenge word.
The competition will officially close on Sunday Evening at 7.00pm, when gen2 will declare my pre-selected words and then apply the same rules for awarding points that have been applied during all MM Link Games in the past. My set of four words to have their links predicted should appear below at 9.00am.
Could it be to do with motor bikes ??
