Once again, this is “King Wickedtongue”, here to prove that whenever I play games, I play hard and take no prisoners. As many of those who know me will testify, I am extremely competitive. Those who take up my challenge will be in for a tough time. The few who picked up points last week did especially well, but can you repeat your earlier success?

To my mind, there are only two card games worth playing and they are Bridge (for the intellectuals) and Poker (for cage fighters that enjoy mind games). As you may guess, my game of choice at the moment is Poker. I not only play on-line, but also in the Champions Poker League, which is played weekly in over 500 pubs up and down the country. In this league, we play for points with the top 25% from each pub qualifying for the quarterly regional finals. Thereafter, the top 10% from these regional finals advance to the annual national final. To date, I have managed to make the last three quarterly finals.

I also play the time-honoured pub game of “Darts”. During the winter months, there is the more serious local Men’s League, which is replaced by the more sociable (but equally serious) Mixed League over the summer months. I suppose that my claim to fame in this regard is that I have played a few professional players in my time (including Bobby George) on the Embassy World Championships 25 years’ Road Show!

I believe that this weekend, the French will be spending time attending to a game which involves courtship and love matches (where “love” is a corruption of “l’oeuf”). Sounds just up my street! However, back to business: in keeping with normal practice, for the everyday running of MM, I shall follow crofter’s rule on word length, in that each of my pre-selected link words contains at least four letters and at most eight letters. Stray outside this range and you will be wasting one of your attempts!

Each of my selected link words may go in front or behind my challenge word! The competition will officially close on Sunday Evening at 7.00pm, when crofter will declare my pre-selected words and then apply the same rules for awarding points that have been applied during all MM Link Games in the past. My next set of four words to have their links predicted should appear below at 9.00am.
