If nothing else, “The Count” (aka middlestump) has brought us incredible weather, so much so that the garden around the Croft is well over half done. In fact, it was just too hot yesterday to spend all day in the garden. I planted up two long planters for the patio and planted up the trough at the end of the approach road. Today, we played host to Grandson, Harry, and his Dad, Daniel. We got the portable sandpit out of storage (sans sand) and half filled it with clear water. I scooped a few hundred tadpoles from a nearby pond and released them into the sandpit (with its clear water). It kept Harry busy for over an hour playing “Catch, catch”! It took all our time to stop him eating them! They were all safely returned to the pond to tell the others of their exciting adventure.

As we approach St George’s Day, I am always minded the Shakespeare’s birthday is taken as 23rd April 1564 and he died on 23rd April 1616 (aged 54). This surely marks him as England's greatest patriot. Furthermore, the Greeks celebrate their own birthdays as well as the Saint’s day after whom they were named. Across the world, if you have anyone called Georgios among your friends, you can guarantee a party tomorrow. Are the Greeks especially religious ~ or do they just like parties?

What WE can guarantee tomorrow is that “The Count” will launch his fourth MM Links Game on AB at 08.45am and his four words to be linked should be posted at 9.00am. Everyone is invited to participate and early MM hits gain bonus points! The ever-popular, international version of this same game (with participants from at least three continents) is KM Links and kicks off at a very early hour. Consequently, the timing of your posting is deemed to be irrelevant ~ only the number of hits you are able to register. The regular organiser of KM Links comes all the way from Oz (Roo-land) and is my good friend, “seekeerz”. She is truly the “Wizard-ess of Oz.

However, as I always say ~ “Why not chance your arm at both Link Games?” You have nothing to lose. Both games remain open for most of the weekend and all entries are scored and entered on to master scoreboards (more or less accurately) to trace progress through each monthly contest.

Until we meet again, may I wish you ~ “Happy Linking”!

:o)
Yes indeed, crofter, Shakespeare's birthday on 23rd...Every year there is a procession through the main streets of Stratford-upon-Avon, flags of all nations, heaven knows what else - usually on the Saturday nearest to 23rd. But tomorrow - oh no! This year it's going to be on Saturday 30th. They SAY it's because of Easter, but I don't see what difference that makes - unless perhaps it's because celebrations are inappropriate on Easter Saturday? it would have been nice to have it on the right day for once.
And we shouldn't forget Miguel de Cervantes who died on the same day in the same year as Shakespeare.

Tearinghair, Apparently there is documentary proof that he was baptised on 26th April 1564 ~ but the date of his birth is not so clear cut.

As for your score last week, I added on your two points for the round but omitted to delete your old score. This is how I constructed the entire League Table ~ NOT my usual method! Hopefully, everything is now in order.
Thanks crofter. If I follow my recent pattern for the rest ofthe month it won't make much difference whether it's one point or three!
BTW the Event is always referred to in S-on-A as The Birthday.

Strix, I didn;t know that1

My owl effigy (of Strix?) in my garden is almost entirely swamped in aubretia. You look quite regal decked in purple!
Ah, the Imperial Purple, how appropriate!!
Evening all, just got in from visiting a sick friend.

We have been working in the garden today also...Reg was cutting down an old overgrown conifer, and I was sat on the patio, with a drink, supervising and offering good advice! He didn't take it though...wonder why?
What, your drink or the advice?
Neither! :-)
Now...what do I plant that will grow tallish (about 4 feet) and thin quickly? Preferably with flowers.
