Following on from the poll of least liked films...what do AB'ers consider the best 'twist' in any movie?

Personally, my favourite is the final 20 minutes of a film that practically NO-ONE I know has seen. It's a John Cusack/Ray Liotta film from 2003.

I won't give the game away, but when the twist happens, I had to rewind the DVD to watch it all again.

Definition of a perfect twist: you didn't guess it, and you felt a fool for not seeing it coming.

Please try not to give twists away for AB'ers who might want to see the film in question.

I loved 'Signs', and the one where the kid says "I see dead people" (can't recall the title just now) and the one with Bruce Willis in a big anorak, 'Broken' I think it was called.
And the Butterfly Effect was pretty good too
makemesmile you mean Sixth Sense, which I also liked but didn't like Butterfly effect at all. My favourite though is the Usual Suspects. sp1814 what is the film title of your fave?
I think the film sp1814 is takling about is "Identity"
'No way out' and 'The Others' both have good twists
Identity was a fun film. A lot of people I know have seen it.

The Usual Suspects is my favorite, too. Some others with twists I saw coming (but were still nice) are The Others and The Illusionist.
Oliver
Ooo! And The Grifters. I didn't see that one coming.
Se7en
The hole and Flightplan spring to my mind although I have to say I'm quite good at guessing twists in movies, kind of spoils the surprise!
Yes, liked Identity too but thought No Way Out much more obvious
The Empire Strikes Back.
I think a lot of twists are overrated: The Sixth Sense was obvious, Signs was just ridiculous.

The Usual Suspects and Se7en's twists are both excellent, as is Identity's, although I was made aware of it beforehand which ruined it rather.

My votes would go to Fight Club and The Wizard of Oz.
Donnie Darko was a bit twistY!!
Anyone seen De-Railed, that has a twisty end piece.
...the crying game...

...usual suspects...

...momento...

...dusk 'till dawn...

...planet of the apes (original 1968)

...the game (had to watch this twice)

"The Sixth Sense" because before I saw the film,
(1) I had only vaguely heard about the film
(2) I had no idea that it was going to / supposed to have a twist in it
(3) I wasn't expecting it at all.

It was only some time after I saw the film for the first time that I discoverd that
(1) The director is famous for putting twists in his films
(2) The twist at the end is famous
(3) Lots of people have had their enjoyment of it spoilt because people have told them in advance about the twist.

Sorry...yes, the film I was talking about is indeed Identity.

I think I'm pretty good at predicting twists, but I absolutely and totally got fooled by that one.

To me, a good twist is like a magician's trick...you think you're seeing one thing, when in fact it's all sleight of hand.

I have to admit, I clocked the twist in The Others before I even saw the film. Same way with The Village.

...but the so-called twist in Flight Plan just annoyed the hell out of me.

It just seemed like...like...cheating. Those who've seen it will know what I'm talking about.
I've seen Flightplan but it made so little impact on me I've forgotten what the twist was, or that it even had a twist!

I'm the opposite, I rarely ever see twists coming so 9 times out of 10 I'm genuinely surprised. I'm glad I'm not one of these "I saw that coming" people!

Was there a twist in Signs?
The Player.
Momento.
Ooh, and the twist halfway through Reservoir Dogs got me too.
