Macbeth - 'CBE' (honour, in) 'math' (American subject)

Still thinking about the other one...

Question Author

I feel stupid not getting that :/ Thanks though lol

Could the other one be "On Love" or something similar?

Clove (past tense of cleave/split) - C(atholic)= love

about = on

Assuming on love is an American philosophers work??

That's what I can see, but I'm not filling it in until I've parsed it.

"On Love" by Alain de Botton, who's Swiss/British, which is why I'm unsure.

Sneaky, JJ, & well done - just the nationality to resolve...

Question Author

The nationality could be a mistake which is not rare in crosswords these days, but you'd expect the TLS not to do that.

What also gives me pause is the fact it was a TLS answer in March this year.

Question Author

Ooh, Charles Bukowski also wrote a book called "On Love"

Nice one, Fleshy, he'll do!  That didn't show in any of my searches 😖

Question Author

I had to really search through the results. Only de Botton came up!
