Everyman crossword No. 4099, Sunday 11 May 2025.

'Sulking, Everyman's taking on work (4)'. I've got 'mope' but feel that 'sulk' is grammatically correct rather than 'sulking', unless someone can explain otherwise.

'Cut off heavy drinker, perhaps it's a sign (9)'. I've got 'harbinger' but cannot parse the 'har' part - 'hard binger' perhaps? Thanks in advance.

everyman - the setter is ME  &   OP is opus (work) M OP E

heavy = HAR(D)

Mopy

noun

noun: mope; plural noun: mopes

a person given to prolonged spells of low spirits.

My - Everyman's

mopy works too

everyman's could be the possessive MY or everyman is ME

Mopy works for "sulking", Dave.

I've just copied my answers into the online grid & "mopE" doesn't complete it, whereas "mopY" does.
