Clues annotated with (Sc) will be a Scottish or Scottish dialect word, term or slang. If not annotated (Sc) then it's a normal British/English word or term. I can't guarantee given letters are correct yet as it's difficult, sometimes with obscure spelling variations.

14a. Risky (Sc) (2,6) ?? C?N?I?

I believe it's either NO CANNIE (not safe or not free from risk) or possibly at a push CA CANNIE (proceed warily or take care)

4d. Daybreak (Sc) (7) ?R?K?N? if 14a is NO CANNIE or

?R?K?C? if 14a is CA CANNIE

Must admit I've nevor seen "canny" spelt "cannie". To me, "cannie", if it even existed, would mean "small can".

cannie-like: carefully, cautiously.
caw cannie: Proceed with caution, be careful.
no cannie: Risky, unlucky.

Dictionaries of the Scots Language:: SND :: canny

Don't know how to produce as link so just put it in your browser.

Cannie is a variation - and it's been used on this site previously (albeit with different clue and meaning). Word count and letters already got suggest probably NO CANNIE or maybe CA CANNIE (but I'm leaning towards NO CANNIE)

4d. Daybreak (Sc) (7) ?R?K?N?

Jings & Crivens.............. Although I suspected KRIKING (I found reference to KRIK being a variation of Creek, a word associated with daybreak, dawn or sunrise etc).

I've also found a reference to BREKINN or BREKING as a word associated with breaking (as in daybreak).

Anyone else doing this crossword yet? I'm scunnered!

"Breekin of day" (or "breeking of day") in Scotland means the breaking of dawn or the beginning of the day.

Maybe Breking ?

I think it's un cannie. That's what it says  in the pocket Scots dictionary..unreliable, mischievous .. but I can't get 4 down,  Daybreak. That's makes it  ?R?K?U?

Could be Braking. I found that in the Scots dictionary.  It means a break in the weather. Not quite daybreak, but could be, especially  if you No cannie is right.
