All hale Boris.
No, the in-fighting now being acted out will only make it worse for the Conservative party creating further division. The removal of Boris & the means by which it was done, will be shown to have been a stupid error.

I think you'll find it's 'hail', 1ozzy - but I know what you mean.
Sorry, I only got half way through that when I had to give up. Very dull and I disagreed with most of it.

The Conservative party became split in the 1970s when Heath took us into Europe. The split widened under Thatcher, Major and Cameron. But what they have now is far worse. They have become fragmented and disunited. There are several fault lines and several different camps.

I can see any of the leadership frontrunners being able to heal the rifts.
* I can’t see *
I wrote that above post without having read Mallone's piece, now I have, I thoroughly agree with her.

Khandro, I think witnessing this dreadful back-stabbing as we have will engender mistrust in the culprits so I don't believe the divisions will be confined to parliament but will affect the confidence of the electorate too. Perhaps the Conservatives don't want to govern, eh?
Naomi, i suspect you describe the article as 'Excellent' simply because it mirrors your own views.
When the dust settles, Johnson may come to realise that had he been less of a stranger to the truth, he may well have seen out a full term (and more) in office.
He gave those who wanted rid of him the ammunition to achieve their joint ambition. He has no-one to blame but himself.
I had also written this earlier today in another (wrong) thread;

'When all the carping and back-stabbing is over & time has passed, when all the lies and distortions are forgotten, I believe Boris Johnson will be seen as being one of the most important, influential P.M.s the United kingdom has had.'

Ken, it does mirror my views but whatever your views, the government has thrown itself into turmoil and that, I believe, will reflect negatively on its future.
08,25 "Perhaps the Conservatives Don't want to govern eh"...... They obviously don't now how to, judging by the mess they have made of the UK in the last couple of years eh! Naomi.
No need to read the piece, I saw the front page of the Express earlier on Sky News and it confirmed everything I suspect the article is.
Not sure why you’d be thanking a serial liar who tried to cover for a predatory sex pest but hey-ho.
From a potential (ex) Con voter, I don’t care how he is/was removed as long as it’s quick, enabling the party to rebuild.
The mistake was appointing Boris in the first place. It should have been obvious that a serial liar would be caught out eventually and then cause mayhem. It saddens and worries me to see how many people think that low morals such as this are unimportant. Like Zacs. I was on the brink of becoming an ex Tory voter (I'd even written to my MP to tell him so); this change of leader might save my vote.
The method of removal was commensurate with the man’s reluctance to leave. There was no alternative if the party is to rebuild.
not many tory voters are willing to ditch the party no matter how bad it gets... so the leadership can backstab each other to kingdom come, their voters will reward it. All it will take is some red scare headlines as happened in each of the past three elections and they will fall into line...
So many swayed by the cult of personality, and I don't mean cult.
we've been split since 1973, Europhiles v Phobes. Still are that's why Tarzan and the Grey man want the leader election rules changed. They know the membership favours Brexit.
"He was a posh boy but he felt like one of us. He was on our side and he wanted what WE wanted, even though we inhabited different worlds."

The cult of Johnson continues to deceive...

All that Boris Johnson has ever cared about is "big dog" and his followers need to forget the harmful idea that he's ever cared about anything else...

she is right that he had "rock star" appeal... he is famous and quite entertaining on panel shows. But that isn't a good way to choose a PM...

I would have some sympathy if his unsuitability for office was new information, but it wasn't... the tories knew what kind of person he was and handed him power... that was an unforgivably irresponsible thing to do!
". But the Chris Pincher debacle this week was the final straw – he’d denied all knowledge of this man’s sexual misdemeanours when not only had he known about them since 2019, he’d promoted him knowing about them. For his detractors, it was one lie too many. But I still wonder if it’s a lie that
matters one jot to voters. I doubt it."

what she means is that it doesn't matter to her.
