Our pensions, received today, are exactly the same as they were last month.

Can you explain this to me please?

It may have changed over the years but I believe Tilly is a new pensioner "The basic State Pension is usually paid every 4 weeks into an account of your choice. You’re paid ‘in arrears’, which means you’re paid for the last 4 weeks, not for the coming 4 weeks." https://www.gov.uk/state-pension/what-youll-get

The increase started on 6th April and you are paid in arrears.
//So while the new tax year starts on Wednesday 6 April, the increase in the state pension will be reflected in people’s income from Monday 11 April.//
Tilly2, I can't help with your query, but just wanted to let you know that today's Spectator puzzle is great. It's pretty tough, but good fun and very clever.

So, next month we should see the increase?

Thanks NAC. I know where to come if I need some help. :-)
Tilly, I am pretty sure that the pension is paid a fortnight in arrears and a fortnight in advance. so you should see an increase in your next payment.
It is definitely paid four weeks in arrears.

Thank you, Barry and Danny.
I was just a bit disappointed when I looked at the bank statement this morning.
I'll look forward to a whopping amount next month!
Barry, I stand corrected ,although I am sure that when I started to draw my pension oit was two weeks in arrears and two weeks in advance.

Perhaps things have changed since then, Danny.
You'll be bitterly disappointed next month, Tilly. Hope you haven't spent it already :(

I get paid weekly in advance so there;-)
Tilly your reply should be to Barry.
