What do you mean by ‘oh dear’?
All this proves is that Prince Charles was taken in by Savile, and was unaware of his criminal activity, which simply puts him the same category as thousands of other people, including vast swathes of the general public.

Of course it looks embarrassing now, but twenty-twenty hindsight is a gift we are all blessed with.

This is a non-story, and quite rightly, the Prince is not giving it oxygen by commenting on it.

Naomi, was that supposed to be a ferricadouzer?
To save anyone else the chore of looking it up - I did so you don't have to -

'ferricadouzer' - a knock-out punch.
maggie - // Naomi, was that supposed to be a ferricadouzer? //

It hardly qualifies if it was, which I doubt.

Knowing naomi, I would guess that it was a genuine question, and I would like to second it.
I can't see that anyone could argue with the statement that JS was incredibly skilled at public relations (and therefore someone to seek advice from in such matters). Anyone who could keep his secrets so well-hidden from the general public, despite large numbers of people having either knowledge or suspicions about his activities, was clearly a PR genius!

Absolutely Chris.

He hoodwinked Mragaret Thatcher, and whatever you think of her, she was nobody's fool - and spent several Christmases with her at Chequers.

He fooled a lot of people very very well, and we now know the underlying personality he hid from everyone.
A good example of someone very very short of a news story. How bigger hole did the Metro have to dig to find this. Who did or didn't respect advice from JS just don't make any difference now.
Good grief. Thousands of people dealt with Savile. Why on earth do you want to post this?

Thank you, AH. Yes, it was a genuine question.

What I meant by "oh dear" was a genuine question?
Don't you use this expression? Is it too simple for someone of your high intellect? Apologies.
Savile was a consummate Con-man so millions believed him.

Now who does that remind me of ?
^^^Blair?
Maggiebee, your first sentence at 17.45 doesn’t make sense.
it's news that Charles was taken in by him too, and thoroughly.

The weird thing is that he seems to have hinted at his activities for years and nobody took a blind bit of notice.

Well Maggie, what's your opinion on the "story" you posted?
I thought "wee Burney"had forbidden any mention of Saville if it is intended as some sort of analogy.
Question Author
Mozz, I'm surprised so many people, and intelligent ones at that, were taken in. My title is "old news" which it is. It suits this site where the past is always being dredged up. No idea who Wee Burney is either.
Maggie - Use of the term 'Oh Dear' has a number of different meanings to different people.

If you choose to make your OP clear, then that is up to you, but it doesn't entitle you to get sniffy with people simply because they enquired what you meant.
