We've finished the crossword (we think) but can't parse two of the answers:
6d: Overturned soil packs empty ditches (5) D?M?S. It looks like "DUMPS" and I can see where the "D" and the"S" come from but why the middle?
20a:With no place to go, a gin looks awfully inviting (6) ?SI?G. We biffed "ASKING" FOR "INVITING " and can see the anagram of "GIN" but why ASK.
Any enlightenment would be gratefully received.

Hi Toorak
Many thanks.
Not only were we barking up the wrong tree, we weren't even in the right forest!
