Score, twenty pounds, slang. Sore, red, and C, circa, around. (Pants = anagram)
Score

Sore (red) around c (around)
I think the trousers here may be as in steals/pockets/takes so SORE pockets the C for around

Thanks both. Presumably "trousers" = encloses - just didn't twig.
Pants was not in the clue. Trousers = "pockets" or seizes/takes in. As said ... Red(sore) trousers( takes in, pockets, seizes. around(C[irca]).
Sorry about my pants (added at the last minute - there was one of those in one of my weekend crosswords, honest!). Thank goodness the answer was OK.
Those of us who know you did wonder NeveraXword. I even looked in the paper in case the clue was different than the online version. Haha.
Caught with your pants up there I'm afraid Neva. :))
