AB is being inundated with adverts. Do these spammers really go through all the rigmarole of signing up to an account just to advertise totally inappropriate things to the entirely wrong demography? Seems strange to me.

'demographic'
I've not seen any...yet... this morning. They aren't adverts in my book.
Spam...spam...and more spam!!!
if they hook just one ABer on CBD gummies, they've done their job.
I think they have realised the majority of posters are over a certain age and might need help, ahem, in certain areas.
they get paid to do it

At one point last night 5 out of the six recent posts were spam. Thats six people taking at least 10 minutes to think of a user name set up a working email and all of the rest of the palaver. I just wondered if somehow, they bypassed this process but I very much doubt it.
I had an ad blocker on my computer until I couldn't get on AB. I removed it and my computer, in all sorts of other programmes, was inundated with ads. I am seriously considering putting the ad blocker back on and forgoing the pleasure of AB. I don't think I would mind so much if there were not so many, and they didn't cover the writing.

These are not ads they are posts, so an ad blocker would have no use.
don't know people put spam on ab but their account is usually closed down quicker than it takes for them to register?
hi calda - you know you can still have an adblocker and switch it off for specific sites like AB. It doesn't have to be all or nothing.
I just tried to report one in "adverts"...and got "an error accured while trying to post..."
ael - // don't know people put spam on ab but their account is usually closed down quicker than it takes for them to register? //

Indeed - it takes a Moderator about ten seconds from spotting a spammer to getting them off the site.
They are spammers, they dont bother researching the site they have a list they work down. Some of the more clever ones may well be automated.

Like jno says, hook one and its paid off.

Most are from abroad where they probably get a Rupee per 'ad'.

^ not worth the effort then is it?
pixie, ad blockers don't stop spam
//not worth the effort then is it?//

Far from it. A rupee is very little so if they only get one hit it mays for many attempts.

Many years ago I worked for a Life Assurance Company. Although I didnt peddle the rubbish we were sent on the sales courses.

One thing that always sticks in the mind is the expectation. For every 10 phone calls get 1 person who will allow a visit. For every 10 who visit 1 only one will buy.

But the profit was so good on that one sale it was worthwhile cold calling 100 people and vititing 10 of them to get it.
FOA Prudie, Please can you tell me how to do that, or point me in the right direction. I am NOT technically minded, being more akin to a Luddite!!! It will be much appreciated, thank you.
