Driver's Licence Number

I am making an enquiry online about my driver's licence and when I insert what I think is the number - it is saying not valid, - anybody know where I can definitely find it.

I have both licence and paperwork in front of me.

On your paper licence:
upper right corner, heading Driver Number.
On your plastic card licence:
item 5 on the list that's on the front of the card.

According to the internet, it is line five on your plastic licence, beginning with the first five letters of your surname.

do you have an NI licence?
if so, it was recently established through an acrimonious thread that the number is different on NI licences! I'll try to find it for you

It’s still the fifth line down, but does not have the first five letters of your surname.

well reading Sherr's reply - there are no letters ie my name - just starts off with 153??????

ok - panic over - my licence expired in Nov20 and apparently 70+ got an extension and according to reading the other post - I should be contacted by DVLA. Just worried I was driving without licence.

I am just in from friend who works in Post Office - she said she hadn't heard of the extension. So I'll just wait.

It’s 8 digits long, is at number 5 on the license and will also be on the renewal letter you have received

Don't the DVLA contact you when your licence is due for renewal?

Usually they do Barsel but due to this Covid business I was afraid I was forgotten about.

I received a letter saying I needed to renew my licence, and get the new plastic one, earlier this year as I turned 70 in March, so letters are being issued.

Yes, there was a second extension announced back in February.
