Some time ago I mentioned about a little mark on the monitor of my TV - ie behind the monitor. It was only a little mark and I was learning to live with it as when the subtitles are on, you couldn't see the mark.

Anyway the mark is now getting bigger and is creeping across the monitor so I do think it is time for new TV.

I am going for this one - https://www.argos.co.uk/product/8995052

I take it I will no longer need my Firestick which I can use in my upstairs TV.

I'm sorta hesitant in maybe thinking at 55 inches - will it be too big. It is in the corner and so I am having to move towards my window.

It seems to be a good bargain. Shall I go ahead with 55 inches.

Thanks for any replies.

This is a matter of personal preference, but I would go for the biggest screen that you can fit into the available space. A big picture is really something, and it looks superb!
How big is your present tv? Don't forget the 55" is the diagonal measurement - the new tv is 28" high and 49" wide.

What do you use the Firestick for? Are you sure the new tv has everything you need? I don't think you will get Now TV on the new tv, if you watch that on the Firestick.
Mind you, another Firestick is cheap enough.

thanks BB.
Just a minute - do you use headphones with your tv?
Question Author
Barry when my nephew installed the Firestick - it "turned" ordinary TV into Smart ie with little Apps. So since this TV has automatic Apps - I didn't think I would use Firestick.
Question Author
no - headphones just for radio
Do you use Now TV on the firestick?
Question Author
I don't have Now TV with the Firestick but I wouldn't be too fussed about that.
Go for it, JJ

Looking at the "new" TV , think one of the Q&A was about soundbar. What is a soundbar and is it inside TV or is it a big block of ?????
Yes, it's a bargain price for a large screen...because Toshiba sets are not that good.
LG and Samsung (and then Panasonic and Sony) are the TVs that get all the best reviews, and most "Best Buys" from Which?
You'll pay a bit more but get a much better set.
Question Author
ginge - this old TV is Samsung and whilst it has served its purpose - it wasn't the greatest of pictures.
jj...things move on, believe me. Most of the best sets now come from Samsung and LG...but it's your money, your choice.

I know Ginge what you are saying like my sister just loves Sony

this has nothing to do with new TV but I recall many years ago I had a portable TV and it was I think Toshiba but it had fallen quite a bit and the casing was broken - when I opened up the casing inside on actual TV was marked Grundig. That never left my mind.
JJ, a soundbar isn't inside the tv or at the back of it. It is an extra that you buy.
The speakers on these new flatscreen TVs are usually quite poor simply because there is not much room inside the tv for decent speakers.
A soundbar is a long 'bar' that sits in front of your tv and houses speakers. Some come with an additional speaker to give 'surround sound'. Some are excellent, many are adequate others are rubbish. You can pay from £70 to thousands
