Log awaited polling day here in Scotland. Will have to wait until Sunday for the result though. 16 year old grand-daughter has her first vote, hope she uses it well.

sure she will.
why does it take so long to count the vote...

Think it's something to do with the large percentage of postal votes emmie. Maybe the fact that we have two votes has something to do with it too.
there are loads of voting going on maggie, right across the board
i postal voted because i find its easier than flogging down the road to the local polling stations. I guess you are hoping for a sizeable majority for the SNP.......
they are letting 16 year olds vote? well I suppose they'll be freshly brainwashed by their daily screenings of braveheart I suppose.
that is something that i don't understand, i maintain the vote should be 18 right across the country

I've had a postal vote for some years and really glad of it today as it's tipping it down here. Think SNP will win one of the votes but vote two is anyone's guess.
personally I'd raise it to 21.
There's a method in the madness, emmie. I seem to recall Labour wanted votes for 16 year olds. Oooo, Jeremy Corbyn!!!

My 23 and 21 year old grandsons had their first votes aged 16. No idea where their allegiances lie but sure they will both have done their homework.
No offence to you Maggie ( I like you) but I really hope Nicola and the people who voted for independence, get in, personally I’m fed up of hearing what she wants so it’ll be better all round for Scotland to go it alone although I’d obviously be curious of just how she and her voters aim to do this with all the freebies they get from England , it will be quite interesting to see it unfold

Indeed Bobbi, interesting times ahead. Winning the vote is just the first hurdle.
Bobbi, raising taxes and cutting spending would have to be first on the list.
Indeed Naomi , I’m afraid it’s more what Nicola Sturgeon has been injected with since birth, it’s her life’s plans and she for one definitely hates the English, best for her to try her hand with the bully boys of Europe but she may be in for a rude awakening with them , I often ponder where that hatred started, Henry the 8th? King William ?
Can someone enlighten me please ?
It goes back to the 13th C and Edward I.
Gosh, you’d think she’d forgive and forget then after all this time JD ;0)
Why would you raise it to 21, TTT. You can die for your country at 18, so surely you ought to be allowed to vote for the people sending you out to die?
Up here in Aberdeen i will be voting for the candidate who has the best chance of beating our SNP candidate(Maureen Watt,i think). In two minds though as Maureen is one of our better non-extreme,non-nutjob SNP candidates.Probably not in favour of any IndyRef2s either.
naomi: "There's a method in the madness, emmie. I seem to recall Labour wanted votes for 16 year olds. Oooo, Jeremy Corbyn!!!" - that's because youngsters tend to get seduced by the idea of socialism early on. Later, usually when they get some assets they tend to realise that it's bow locks. So left wingers always want ro lower the voting age.
ken: "Why would you raise it to 21, TTT. You can die for your country at 18, so surely you ought to be allowed to vote for the people sending you out to die?" - well I wouldn't link the 2 things really, the best way not to be sent out to die is choose another career.
