Ooh The Excitement!!
24 Answers
I've just been out to pay the paper bill and got stopped by an elderly couple who asked me for directions to the local Covid vaccination centre. They were off to get their first jabs and I have NEVER seen anyone so excited.
They were like kids at Christmas. I found myself offering them congratulations. They were so happy they were going to be safer in a few weeks.
Cheered me up no end to meet them

I was very pleased to receive my first dose of the vaccine. I almost thought it wouldn't happen as when I tried to book on through our own hospital system, it kept insisting my NHS Number was wrong. In the end I made a quick call to the vaccine hub and they booked me in.

seemed very obvious this am
first day for the volunteers. - and you cd see the amazement on their faces. " you tell a crowd of 80 y olds to sit over there, and they get up and do so in order, and quietly and wait - its incredible! "

I hope that paying your paper bill was more successful than I often found it to be when I lived in Sheffield.
I'd go into the shop and offer to pay my bill, only to be told "Oh, we're far too busy at the moment. Leave it until another day".
A week or two later, I'd try again, only to be told "Oh, we haven't got all our books up to date yet. Leave it until another day".
That would go on for months and months until, finally, I'd have really shirty letter pushed through my letterbox, threatening legal action if I didn't pay my bill immediately, as I'd (allegedly) ignored all of their previous demands!
To make it worse, those letters were never put into envelopes but simply left open for the newspaper boy to read before he delivered them with my newspapers. So the newspaper boy could see that I was (apparently) the type of person who never ever paid his debts on time - and the newspaper boy just happened to be one of my pupils!

I know how you feel, Chris. I got our library to put telling offs into an envelope rather than on a post card when a book was way overdue because I didn't want the postman to know I had overdue books...as if he cared......I must have been bored.......:-)
I can imagine their excitement, Messalina. The WhatsApps from friends that were once about shoes, chocolate, men and wine are now about when they're getting the vaccine and congratulating those who have!
