11 Sarabande
17 Successes. This is the clue referred to in the preamble. There's a D from Cud, something to chew, dropped (over = go upwards).
35 Hidden in the clue, reversed, Baye, so you'll spot the extra letter.
32. Astatine - the At at the start of the clue.

14 Dionaea.

I'm not great at parsing, and some of Nimrod's clues made that more obvious!

Thanks NAC.
Baye and Dionaea new for me.
17d. Was stuck on excesses.
The other extras are -

11 - are[a] = 'region'
32 ni[m] = 'take' (I think).
14 a[g]e = 'time'
Hankir, glad I could help.

PM Thanks for the additional info.

Still quite a few tosolve.
Good morning all. I'm an Enigmatist fan, and enjoying this, but struggling a wee bit.

Any help with 12a. Tenants start to see backing in the absence of opposition (6)
- - c-e-
and
1a.... is this murmur giving murder in the middle of the top row? Can't parse this.

Many thanks for any kind help.

OK have got 1a. now.. last 3 letters are ignored in cryptic element of clue!
12a NEM CO[n] is the phrase to be reversed ('n' is extra) around 'start to S(eek)' - def Scots 'tenants'.
...sorry - the S becomes the first letter.
Can you explain 1a please?
1a is the slang term for B'ham reversed ('from the East') with the 'b' extra - the wordplay doesn't give the 2nd part of the answer [def 'sound of water'] as per the preamble '...in one of the across rows; its letters are ignored...'.
Thank you for clearing that one up ... i was fixated on derby / nottingham!
Thanks so much again Professor Masie!
Apologies for late thanks - just back from shops.
I was wrong about it being Scottish, slugabed (sorry again!) it's Old English.
...and it's very kind of you, slugabed - any time is good for me (I hope you got everything you needed).
Really appreciated Profesormaisie. I am myself olad and English, and I live in Scotland!
