There are two thematic elements to this crossword, but I am pretty sure this question belongs to neither theme. It is just a straight cryptic clue.

14d Systems for dialogue: "painting = money" in false steps. (11)
T _ I _ A _ T _ S _ S

One of these next two is themed. The other is a straight clue. For the thematic answer there is a misprint in the clue where the correction involves an "S"

28d Comrade, did I get shot? (5) A _ I _ O
Presumably AMIGO I + go = shot, but .............
29d The principled bachelor will split the bill (3)
A _ C

Many thanks

Many thanks both for that, I couldn't get my head past "artists" at the end and it totally threw me!

Looks good cashier - B(achelor) splits AC(count) and you have used the thematic "S". Thankyou
28 looks like 'Am I go?' (where - 'shot' = go) it's a straight clue.
28D Agree that this looks like a straight clue 'Am I go?' (where - 'shot' = go), but am confused about the am as the tense of the clue is past tense "did"? Can anyone explain what I'm missing please?
