No chance Joseph Kennedy( the cowardly appeasnick)had his ambassadeur's residence aross the other side of London in Chelsea.
My father,a London copper,had to stand guard outside his residence during the war.When the sirens went off Joe Kennedy was out the door and into his basemeny shelter faster than Leroy on a rocket. His parting words to the officer on his front door was, "Now you make sure I don't get visited by looters while I'm away. I'll have that uniform off your back"

The old man was transferred from Chelsea (B Division) to West End Central (C Division) in the middle of the war.
