Stuck on final clue Phoenix crossword.

7 letters. Yeats and Heaney embrace Chaucer and Keats starting in pants, but never in knickers.

Much appreciated.
You're welcome
Could parse as po(C..K..)ets, but don't get the def.
in pants, but never in knickers - but that's not strictly true
Is it an American crossword, Starmack/Mamya?
Phoenix Magazine is a British publication if that's where this is from,

I took 'pants' to be trousers and 'knickers' to be underwear.
Ditto... eventually, Mamya.
