Have a go
Have a go (willing to attempt) + have (hold as in"to have and to hold) + a + go (function) ie if something goes it functions
Looks right- although are you sure of the g because when I used to play football it was common for players/supporters to shout 'have a do' when a player was in a position to shoot, and Do is a word for a function.
I hear what you say FF but I still think it is "Have a Go".
have = hold, a = a, go = function (in verb format, rather than noun)
I agree that "have a go" is much better, but wondered if there was a crossing clue to confirm the G (or, less likely, D)
