Struggling with bottom right corner as everyone seems to be although I am sure that Erbia is right for 18a "Balkan out of bounds in compound"

18d Brief trial of strength capturing something cold-blooded (3) e-- (wonder about eel but can't parse it.

20a I think might be something like Steeve? where Ste is abbr for Sainte (French holy woman + Eve (first woman). I think steeve is also connected to sailing ships and cargo but not certain?
