24a One running away from work for day in a tree (6) Obviously eloped but please can someone parse it for me. Also interesting views on 27a "Dog many recalled" (4). I feel sure it is SLOT because slot is to track (i.e,dog) and lots backwards.

24a Eloper - change 'd(ay)' for 'op' (work) in 'elder' (tree)
27a Snot - (slang for a contemptible person, as is 'dog') - 'tons' (back)
op (work) in anagram elde(r)

I meant of course eloper rather than eloped but I get it now. However for once Lie - in - King I am disagreeing with you over SNOT. I still prefer SLOT because to dog is to track which means slot. Interesting to see solution next week. Regards.
Lots backwards is STOL
Question Author
In hindsight Lie-in-King I reckon you are right because I have just realised that slot backwards isn't lots!! Doh!
Fair enough Maxy, but where do you use the "many recalled"? 'Slot' is 'tols' back, 'snot' is 'tons' back.
I am sure I read earlier that those who enter online had tried - slot/stol and stop only to find they still had one wrong.

I'll stick with 'Snot' a contemptible person etc as is 'Dog'
We crossed posts :-))
'stick with'was not an intended pun.

As you say we crossed posts! I am definitely happy now with SNOT. Happy Easter!
