What am I missing, please? The clue is "Set out, passionately bewildered". The answer is a 9-letter island beginning with P. If you take the letters SET out of PASSIONATELY, you do *not* get an anagram of Polynesia, which in any case is not an island but a region of more than 1000 islands. You might get an anagram of POLYNASIA, which doesn't seem to exist (via Google) except as a typo in a couple of travel articles. Has the Guardian mispronted the clue? Has Maskarade mis-anagrammed the solution? Should the clue have been "Sat out, ..."? Or have I sc****d up?

I think it's an error & the clue should read 'sAt out...'
I think it should read sat
Yes, it is a misprint. The Grauniad has put a corrected version on its web page.
Nice to see that the Grauniad is keeping up the tradition of misprints. Perhaps the staff should cut back on the lentils and muesli.
I've been treating it as a mis-clue, but then had moments of doubt until I confirmed an 'A' as last letter. Don't think "Sat out..." works properly as a clue - at least not as well as Set.
The Guardian have corrected the PDF version to read 'sat out'
