you can buy granules in the garden centre that will keep them off. Also you could keep a clean washing up liquid bottle full of water by the door and squirt them with it.
covering the soil with pebbles that they cannot lift/dig into may work
Orange peel

Many thanks!
Orange or lemon peel.
Best thing I've come across to get cats to shift is caphor. They don't seem keen on it.
I just put some netting over the pots until the plants/bulbs come through. Cats see nice soil and think we've provided a nice new toilet for them!!! Bless 'em.
OG's suggestion is, presumably, camphor...not too sure how easy it is to obtain, though.
Aye. Another darned typo that can't be corrected :-(
Usually someone on eBay flogging tablets of the stuff.
Dark coloured sticks that are unobtrusive to your eyes, but make squatting difficult.
had a lot of success with thorny twigs, berberis, holly etc. they dont like scratching up the area.
I lay a lattice of peas sticks across the top of the pots so they can't get in (that's to stop my own cats!)
We use lots of shortened canes that are placed where the cats did love to jump out to catch the birds in our bush! Works very well.
We will use the same method in plant pots, as we know that it will work!!!
Well --were sure it will work.
Cats wont like the canes digging into their rear ends.

Thanks all!
Orange peel works a treat - my cats despise it.
