I though it was worth starting a separate thread, so here's the link: http://www.alumni.cam.ac.uk/news/cam/cam69/CAM69.pdf. I'm far from finishing it or, indeed, having a clue about what is going on - but I thought I should share the pain! It's a tough one.

Yes it certainly is! I've got most of the clues (enough of a struggle in itself!) but can't yet get any kind of toehold in the grid as the title doesn't give much away apart from obvious interpretations which don't help.
Finally cracked it - if you need a hint: [email protected]

That is very kind, but I will soldier on for a bit. I just hope I don't have to cold solve ALL of the clues before I see what is happening!
Likewise - about 20 cold-solved so far but the answers are pretty unsociable misfits. It occurs to me that the first Across clue has two equally plausible answers. I wonder if this is intentional ?
If you think this tough, try the Listener 4250! I am really struggling.
Question Author
Yes, 4250 is properly tricky. But it does have a few ways in, and it's not (to this pour soul, at any rate) anything like as hard as the Schadenfreude. Must put my back into it again when I have a spare moment.
I too have managed to solve about 75% of the cold clues with an enormous amount of effort. However, I am struggling to find a a solution to the "crowded " cells. Could a kind soul provide a hint or two please? Thanks.
