9a Mozetta (cape) - 'oz' (ounce) (in) 'met' + 'at' (about)
Have a sneaking suspicion 2d could be Borax, but don't ask me to explain , it's too late.
Borax - 'or' (in) (Arnold) Bax
Clever sh!te! I knew that but just couldn't articulate it.
:-) I would've been ages coming up with borax though - you're right, it's getting late...

Thanks a lot Lie-in King and mike11111 - much appreciated. Just 14a now!
I'm working on it as we speak. Not being a papist I find some of the clues rather obscure.
Iffy, but maybe 'deacons'????
My first thought too. CO (company) dividing Deans (who are cathedral canons as opposed to saints) but am not very happy. Hang on, it's Cos surrounding dean. That seems better.
Should say cos split around dean.
Mike, thanks for the confirmation. I am a Papist so not well up on C. of E Hierarchy.

Thanks glasman. Thank you mike11111 - I have the same problem - it's the wife's paper but I always find the crossword intriguing.
Didn't mean to be rude with the word papist, it just slipped out. In the C of E the priest in charge of a cathedral is called a dean, whilst his staff are canons. Not sure what the titles are Roman-wise.
