Topo Gigio is a little Italian mouse
Didn't he used to be a little cartoon Italian mouse in the 1960's?
Topo Gigio was a puppet mouse. topogigo I don't know - perhaps he's really typogigo?
Now that's funny!
Interestingly, the phrase 'nom de plume' is usually forbidden by most style guides as it's not a French phrase at all (the recommended alternative is the genuinely French 'nom de guerre').

What the hell has what i say got to do with a"Style guide"?
And, i was asking about Topogigo, not Topogigio.
Hi! Maybe the question you asked has no point at all, given the fact you seem to know the answer... Is that a kind of test, "un rite de passage"? By the way, I'm French and "un nom de plume" is a French phrase (a pseudonym for a writer) while " un nom de guerre" would rather be a name someone takes to act secretly in serious circumstances like the "resistance" during ww2 or in totally futile plots like clandestine love affairs... or on the net!
I'm pretty sure topo is the italian for mouse, hence the little puppet guy in the striped shirt on the Ed Sullivan show (Geeve me a kees, Edddeeeeee), who only appeared sporadically, but for whom I waited and watched all the way through, every week, no matter how many dumb grown-up singers and incomprehensible comedians I had to endure.

I assume Gigio is a nickname like Joey or Johnny. I hadn't caught the different spelling of Our Correspondent's name (Gigo not Gigio), and have no guesses on that part. Is the monicker perhaps an acronym? Programmers use the shorthand GIGO = Garbage In, Garbage Out.
