The US Open begins tomorrow at Torrey Pines, San Diego, with all the usual suspects lining up to to try and stake their claim on the top spot come Sunday. I have so far only managed to find 4 players with whom to take an interest in over the next four days but i may add one or two more before the first tee-off.

Jon Rahm. Having shown definite signs of coming back to form, he went into the final round of the Memorial Tournament 6 shots in the lead but had to withdraw having been tested positive for Covid 19. Up until yesterday, he was having to self-isolate so he only has today in which to get some practice in and that may just anchor him.

Brooks Koepka. He is still on the mend after a knee op. However, he performed with great credit in the PGA Championship, tying for 2nd spot on -4. He obviously recovers with each passing day and i am expecting a very solid performance from him.

Patrick Reed is my 3rd selection as he has already proven his liking for this course earlier this year.

My 4th is Will Zalatoris who tied in 6th in this tournament last year. His last 2 comps have seen him placed runner-up and tied 8th, so he is in decent form.

£5 Free Bet; Brooks Koepka @ 14/1 = £70
£2 Free Bet; Jon Rahm @ 9/1 = £18
£1.50 e.w.; Patrick Reed @ 25/1 - 11 places
£1.50 e.w.; Will Zalatoris @ 33/1 - 11 places

Tiger Woods to play if he can get his gearstick unstuck.

So Dustin Johnson @18-1 must be worth a tipple....ditto Rory and Spieth @20-1

Wouldn't back Rory with stolen money at the moment.

Big congrats to Jon Rahm. He 'birdied' the last hole, going into the clubhouse on -6, one shot ahead of Oosthuizen who still had 3 holes to play. The South African ended par-bogey-birdie to reman in 2nd on -5.
After what happened to Rahm in the last competition, he fully deserved to win the 'big 'un'. Obviously a guy who doesn't need that much practice.
Also got a decent run for my money from Brooks Koepka who finished in 4th.
The performances of the other two are best forgotten :-)
