Today, millions of people from various backgrounds have learned from the Bible the truth about Jehovah. (Isa. 2:2, 3) Some were atheists or deists, but they became convinced of the existence of a Creator.

Others worshipped a triune god or various idols. Before they learned that Jehovah alone is the almighty God, and they now address him by his personal name. That is in line with the fact that Jesus said his disciples should be baptized in the name of the Father.

Birdie , Goodlife takes the view that the Bible is a work which is inspired by God , and he qoutes various parts of it and makes various points . I see nothing wrong with that .
What exactly do you want me to do Birdie - do you want me to denounce Goodlife because he hasn't answered my every point in exactly the way that I wanted ? Goodlife isn't on trial here...

Do you have a question or are you just preaching?
Right. Thanks.
"and they now address him by his personal name."

Kevin?
No, we've been here before with god's name.
It's obviously Joshua Ben Joseph

Jesus being the greekicised form of Joshua, ben being son of, Joseph being his dad. Or not, according to your views.
Goodlife what is your view of people who believe in God but follow other religions ?
Or those who believe we are all figments of each other's imaginations?
I always liked Penelope Keith best in The Goodlife. Still makes me laugh now!
Hallelujah !
//Do you have a question or are you just preaching? //

He's just preaching.

Maidup, I like her too. :o)
goodlife //Today, millions of people from various backgrounds have learned from the Bible the truth about Jehovah. (Isa. 2:2, 3) //

So by "today" do you mean now or when Isa wrote their piece?

// Some were atheists or deists, but they became convinced of the existence of a Creator. //

Being convinced by something doesn't make it true. For people like goodlife, the level of evidence to convince them is very low, zero even. They are gullible enough to accept what they would like to believe despite the complete lack of evidence.
Goodlife - “... Today, millions of people from various backgrounds have learned from the Bible the truth about Jehovah...”

Millions of people have been seduced by the idea of an afterlife and a spiritual benevolent hand that guides them through life's trials and tribulations. That doesn't make the bible's message the 'truth'. An even greater number of people have learned from other 'holy' scriptures and worship gods of a different name.

What makes you so sure that your particular brand of religion is the 'truth'. What about islam? What about sikhism? What about hinduism? What about buddhism? What makes you so sure you're following the one 'right' religion?
I have learned from the bible indeed... and my conclusion is that it is a work of fiction and my real Creator is Mother Nature.

For years man’s brain has been likened to a computer, yet recent discoveries show that the comparison falls far short. “How does one begin to comprehend the functioning of an organ with somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 billion neurons with a million billion synapses and with an overall firing rate of perhaps 10 million billion times per second?” “The performance of even the most advanced of the neural-network computers . . . has about one ten-thousandth the mental capacity of a housefly.”So, then, how much a computer fails to measure up to a your brain.

The fact that humans have so often turned out bad does not mean they could find the true God. So the Bible correctly observes: “The perversity of you men! Should the potter himself be accounted just like the clay? For should the thing made say respecting its maker: ‘He did not make me’? And does the very thing formed actually say respecting its former: ‘He showed no understanding’?”—Isaiah 29:16.

First, reason true worship unites believers in love. Jesus explained to his disciples: “I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are my disciples,
So second reason it would be unthinkable for true Christians to take up arms against one another in war.
goodlife: Do you randomly clip from Watchtower or do you actually consider that post was relevant to the discussion?
The word “baptize” comes from the Greek ba·pti′zein, meaning “to dip, to plunge.” Christian water baptism is an outward symbol that the one being baptized has made a complete, unreserved, and unconditional dedication through Jesus Christ to do the will of God. The Scriptures also refer to John’s baptism, baptism with holy spirit, and baptism with fire, among others.

So to which one are you referring?

...yet some people are as thick as two short planks despite all this amazing computer-like brain function.
I think you're wasting your time just idly entering text from The Bible by the way, without a question as such. You're making yourself look like an idiotic rambler!!

Your above post has no bearing on the discussion at hand. Nothing whatsoever.

It would appear from this thread and others that you are nothing more than a bible bashing ignoramus with absolutely nothing constructive to say. You consistently refuse to engage in debate and simply post page after page of scripture that is almost always completely irrelevant to the debate.

Is there such a thing as a 'religious troll'?
Birdie, if you call Goodlife a Troll, you may not go to heaven.
What kind of bird are you?
A "Lesser Mannered Post Griebler," or just a, "Common Twerp?"
I shall pray that the Good Lord in His infinite wisdom, deigns to bless you with the gift of patience and tolerance.
God has let it be known to me that He has delivered unto you a mild punishment as a warning.
Go and check your bank account, and beware your next leccy bill.

People you know or whose identity you can verify. Unsavory individuals regularly troll the Internet looking to exploit people names.
Actually, though, the trolls are believed to be jealous people who take mischievous delight in bringing misfortune to prosperous people.
goodlife, are you going to ask a question? We don't need sermons here; we've had plenty in our time from the likes of Theland, USLady and a dozen others whose names I happily can't recall for the moment.

Also many of us atheists know far too much about the bible and its origins to be impressed by quotations from it.

(O gawd! Theyland's back. Hope you're well, dear chap.)
