Is anyone else familiar with substituting self with sen? My dad does it all the time and a woman on the radio did it this morning.

'Sen' is a dialect version of 'self' used in the North of England. If you go even further north, you'll find that 'sel' or 'sell' are the Scottish equivalents. Hence you get 'hissen' or 'himsel' meaning 'himself' and similar words for herself, ourselves, themselves etc.

It is just laziness in our speech.  Most of us are guilty of it no matter where we live.
