I have seen several houses with the name Nia Roo and am curious about its meaning. On putting Nia Roo into Google, I seem to get listings of hotels, guest houses and pubs, all with this name, but no information on what it means. Who or what is Nia Roo?

Duhh... Now I see it!. As a Scot, I have to confess to completely missing the oor ain bit. I've also seen it as Roo Nia, for the same reason I suppose. Its a wee bit disappointing - I though Nia Roo was some sort of mythical paradise, but its actually a bit of a naff name for a house. Thanks for the answers! MacBonzo

my mother in-laws new husband named their house roo nia, i dont get the whole naming you house backwards.
