my nana used to answer:

"two jumps each at 'pantry door - see if you can reach 'lock!"

(in a strong lancashire accent)

Has anyone else heard this, or did she make it up?

My nana used to answer 'Two knocks on't pantry door and a lick of the buttery latch'. also from Lancashire
not heard either of those but here in yorkshire my grannie used to say

duck and roll...duck under table and roll round floor lol

my other grannie who was rude used to reply pigs bleep and lettuce ....weird lol
My nan used to pass wind loudly then p*ss the sofa whilst laughing hysterically in the old folks home. How we can all learn from the older generations....

oh noknowledge, that really made me laugh! Old fashioned Nan's really are bonkers.

Do you say anything yourselves? I have quoted my nana on occasion, but my kids just stare blankly, wondering what a pantry is.

I sometimes tell 'em its sh1t with sugar and they can have seconds.
I say sh1t with sugar to my granddaughter when shes nattering me, her eyes nearly pop out of her head lol
"Two jumps at the pantry door and a bite at the latch" was the response in this neck of the woods, ( S Cheshire).

And "What's in there dad?", always got the reply -
"Lay-'olds fer meddlers and crutches fer lame ducks"!

We used to get Bolts ..
Bolt in,bolt round the table,and bolt out again
Another delicacy was... Stewed knees and sparrows ankles .
My nan always said "A jump up And a bite o't' latch".
For holidays we used to go to Ourgate!
