If they had checked the TV advert they would have seen that the M word did indeed refer to money.
Perlease!
Alex Raikes MBE, Strategic Director of Stand Against Racism and Inequality may be a complete T word.

Still, no accounting for what rolls around inside the heads of our great thinkers.
Damned if you Do. Damned if you don't.
Someone would be the first to complain if there were no black people included in adverts.
In the article she says it's a clumsy and offensive play on the "N" word, how did she make that connection? I do despair of this country when someone can see an M and decide it's really an N and stands for N-----r.
Every day, it seems, more morons feel a need to come out and declare themselves such.
Mind you, if banks spent more time ensuring sufficient banks with tellers were available, rather than expect fancy ads to be worthwhile, then maybe they'd cop less flak.
I wouldn`t say it`s racist but I do think it`s in poor taste
Question Author
Why.?
Pathetic.
Oh God give me strength !! That stupid woman would have found it racist if they had used a white face, probably bemoaning the fact that Britain is now more than just white people - whingers like her are never satisfied. I really wish Lloyds would tell her where to go, but I very much doubt it.
237 - why is it in poor taste ??
Anything that indicates racism is racist. Poor marketing from Lloyds as if they wouldn't notice something so profound as that.

Literally an out of context leaflet and it does smack of racial connotations.

Does seeing that make me racist? No. Does recognising how things like this could be considered racist by some make me less ignorant? Yes.
Personally I think that if you see an M and immediately say that's an N and can only stand for N.....r then you're either stupid or racist ( or both ) for seeing that connection. Again it's somebody being offended on behalf of others.
The overall Ad campaign has a decent premise, however I feel a brain storming session before designing this particular leaflet was missed.
The M refers to monkey not ***.
I agree mamy. They should have seen the trouble this out of context leaflet could create.
Vulcan... not if the complaints are from people of black skin.
//The M refers to monkey //

It refers to money. It's a banking advert.
Yes, it does refer to money.. but in the racist context, it implies monkey. Not the 'N' word as vulcan indicated.
