But I have been reduced to near breaking point by Mediquip Birmingham branch
This is the email I just sent which explains

Dear Mediquip

Re John xxxxx Died 20/06/18

Have you any idea how distressing it is to have the bed your husband died in, sitting in your lounge . My husband died Wednesday night and the company who provided the mattress collected it friday. Your organization however does not think it matters once you have made the initial delivery because you initially said Friday 29th When I begged (in tears) for it to be collected sooner I was told the collection would happen Monday

As no one had arrived during the time slot given I phoned back to be told the driver had not been able to contact me. Funny that I was sitting by the phone and listening for the door all the time. I was told someone would come after they finished another job. Well someone came and took the small stuff that was sent on an earlier delivery, (toilet frame, walking frame etc) but he couldn't take any of the other stuff because it wasn't on his job list.

I phoned back after a long wait I got through to a member of your team who said all he knew about was the order that had been collected. All he could suggest was a colleague phones me tomorrow. I am going to register my husbands death tomorrow morning and til then All I can see when I sit down is the pigging bed,

I cant stop crying because it is so painful, Don't you have any idea the hurt you must be causing I am here alone having to deal with other peoples ineptitude

Please get this sorted Tomorrow afternoon I will be in from 1300

Yours

That's awful , I was very fortunate with the speed things like that were collected - I hope they fulfil their promise tomorrow Rowan.x
I met a man recently who delivers and collects equipment just like you and your husband required. The dilemma he and his staff face is, patients who are discharged from hospital at short notice require equipment urgently, where as picking up equipment at times is delayed. This is a very distressing set of circumstances who have found yourself, I'm so sorry .

All they have promised is someone might phone me...
Good grief...that's awful, and, unacceptable.
Tell them if they don't manage to collect it, you'll stick it out on the lawn for anyone to take.
That is dreadful. I really hope the bed is taken away soon, for your peace of mind.

Tried that they told me I would be liable for it. Can't even get it apart to move it as I don't have the proper tools
I know the feeling. They were supposed to turn up at my Mum`s house to collect a toilet frame after she died. We arranged a time for me to go around there so that I could let them in and they never turned up. When I phoned to complain and I was told to leave it out on her doorstep, I went absolutely mad at them. They had no sense of her dignity at all. You would think they would be a bit more sensitive, given their industry.
Was it a special needs bed?
I'm sorry to hear that you are having to endure such shabby and inconsiderate treatment. I hope it is resolved soon. xx

Just a hospital electric bed, if it was an all singing all dancing one I am sure they would need it back yesterday
O.K....
How upsetting. I'm sorry that you are having to deal with this type of treatment.

However, I think it's OK not to try and stay in control. As long as you dont do anything illegal I really dont think anyone can blame you if you dont try and stay in control.

(And inserting bits of the bed into the MD's bottom is probably illegal).
Rowan, barmaid is right, you don't need to keep in control of " keep it together" .

I could cope if I hadn't promised Dave he would die in our bed with me holding him, it's reminding me that at the very end I didn't keep that promise. I wasn't even holding his hand...
You couldn't sweetheart, it hurt him to be touched I know - I bet you held him close soon after though.
.oh please don't reproach yourself, Dave was aware he was at home with you caring for him .
Someone told me something once and it struck home with me.

'Every day you'll find another stick to beat yourself with, something you could have done better - Don't! do that, be angry at the situation and not at yourself'.
Question Author
I couldn't even hold him afterwards the bed wouldn't take the weight
Rowan, how long were you and Dave together ?
Oops, don't feel obliged to reply :-)
