My friend has used 2 sayings recently that I'd not heard before.  I'd be interested to know if anyone else has heard these expressions and could shed any light on the origin and usages please.

He thanked us for his birthday pressie saying he was thrilled skinny.

Our neighbour, a 70+ male, is always doing work for a much younger female neighbour.  Our friend commented on the fact he is always up a ladder doing work and the poor old boy was running a risk of a heart attack.  Then he said, still, it might keep him going, keep him half hard and playful.   My friend said this was an expression his dad used.

Many thanks

I've never heard anyone say "thrilled skinny", so I imagine it is a very local idiom. The other one: "keep me half hard and playful" suggests to me that - despite his age and good luck to him - he perhaps has physical designs on his young female neighbour! Think about it...it's not too hard to decipher.

Thank you Quizmonster - I had worked out what it meant!  As you say, easy to decipher.  But I'm more interested in where the expression came from if anyone can shed light on that.
