by Simon Cowell, she must water down her accent if she got the job on the USA ExFactor?
which she hasn't btw.
Theres a lot of Scots,Welsh and Irish, the latter being in Boston predominantly, who have made their home in the States without being told to 'water down' the accent they grew up with

snobbery?

Does she have an accent..............?
pretty girls are literally a dime a dozen over there, surely they would want someone established in the music industry with plenty of experience of the american market.

why ? cazzz
It's just a dialect they can't understand easily, like they would probably have a problem with a broad Glasgow accent, or a broad Australian accent. And I'm sure we would have trouble with some broad American dialects. It's just we're used to her accent over here

They're not telling her to lose the accent completely...just tone it down. Robson Green isn't as 'geordie' as he once was either, but his accent is still there.

Generally, accents and dialects are being watered down or lost altogether as people travel more and more.
spot on redhelen
Would be surprised if she got the job as no-one will know who she is.

fair play to her though for being so successful with burger all talent.

I always laugh that she and danni Minogue are judges on a singing show.
I believe there is actually some sort of law in the states regarding broadcasting about having an accent which can be readily understood....................
Totally talentless woman. But it doesn't seem to matter these days!! I really have no idea why people should want to watch her or listen to her. Well, I suppose I can understand why some blokes do!

I don't think it matters a jot about her accent though.
Craft is correct. It's not just Cowell being mean. Broadcasters and presenters must be clearly understood on American TV by law.
It`s simply because the Americans might not understand her accent. I`ve got a neutral English accent and I quite often get a "pardon me"? when I speak to an American in the States. When they showed The Full Monty in the cinemas there, they had subtitles.
That's what sub-titles are for ;-)
