Morning, my 2.5 yr old grand-daughter has just become toilet trained, she will do a wee on the Loo but she poo's in her knickers, we had to take her to A and E yesterday as she held onto her poo for too long as the last one she did split her little botty and made it so sore to go, her tummy began to distend and she was in a great deal of pain, they have given her a fibre drink to put into her normal juice and she managed to go 3 times when we got home which made her feel a little better, but still the problem is how do we get her to poo on the Loo so she dosn't hold onto it, she has watched mummy go ( sorry lol ) so she knows you are meant to do it down the toilet but she just wont. Any suggestions please? Thank you

Time....

Potty?
Make the child aware that it's dirty and wrong to do it in her knickers and promise her that you'll reward her if she does it in the toilet
Question Author
She hates the potty, she wont sit on on of the small sets you place onto a adult Loo seat either, she has poo'd once in the Loo, but not since. x

Tried that joeluke, didnt work. x
Depending on physical size, she may find the bog a bit scary (might fall down never be seen again - seriously). We allowed our daughter to use potty for big jobs until she felt happy to mount the throne - bit of a hassle but she felt comfortabler that way
You can only keep explaining. She'll get there eventually. You don't see many adults pooing in their pants....

Sober anyway :-)

Mosaic she wont sit on the potty but she dosnt mind the toilet, its just she wont poo down it, she is a tiny thing i agree, but its not a case of being frightened she might fall down the big hole if she can wee down there. x
She's only 2.5. Some little ones are not even out of nappies by then.
Question Author
Ummmm i think we will just have to keep emptying her knickers of poo until she gets the hang of it, its no good cycling backwards and putting a nappy back on her is it?
Question Author
Thats true ummmm x
can she say at all why she won't use a potty or the loo? Mechanically its quite hard to push the poo out without your feet planted, the push muscles don't work.

Friends of mine have found this book helpful

I wouldn't put her back in nappies. When she soils herself take her to the toilet with you to empty it.
DON'T make her feel it's wrong and dirty to poo in her clothes. Why upset her and make her feel bad? Why not do it in HER own time, not to your convenience. Like you say, just keep cleaning out her clothes until she's ready.
Awww she's only 2.5! Mine was gone 3 before she was fully potty trained. If going on the toilet or potty is stressing her to the point where she needs hospital treatment, for heavens sake, let it go for now!

She'll catch on eventually, they all do- honest!
My father used to rub my nose in it like some people do with puppies

Soon made me stop sh1tt1n my pants
Is that what you suggest Joe? Good thinking :-/
Question Author
Joeluke i dont think i will be taking your advice somehow. Think best thing is to praise her when she is sitting on the toilet and just keep hoping that one day son it will just happen, she is such a bright little one it shouldnt take long. x
Shut up Joe.

Not sure if any of your posts are wind ups or you truly believe the crackpot theories you have, but I hope everyone else agrees with me that most of your posts are un-wanted or needed.
boo....get over yourself

It actually happened to me but I wasn't suggesting the OP used it

I don't give a toss what you or others think of my posts
Good job really, as your posts are quite frankly...crap.
